Boyd has been a driving force behind the New Zealand-Netherlands Foundation and many of its projects from the Foundation’s inception in 1990 until he stepped down in 2011. Making a significant contribution in both Australia and New Zealand as a captain of industry, Boyd has also made a huge contribution to the community through various organisations. His autobiography “Between Two Countries – the time and life of Boudewijn Klap” is still available through the Foundation.
Mr Klap was the Chief Executive of Prudential New Zealand and of the Life Offices Association. He was the Chair of the New Zealand Police Superannuation Fund and of the reverse mortgage company Sentinel. He is Chair of a recently established insurance company, Partners Life.
He has worked with the Government on superannuation policy and planning and has represented New Zealand at a related OECD conference. He has been Chair of the Greater Wellington Promotion Council (now Positive Wellington) and the Wellington Civic Trust, a board member of Lambton Harbour Management, and was involved in organising the 1990 celebrations on Petone Beach.
Mr Klap was responsible for the 1992 Abel Tasman Anniversary celebrations. He is the Chair of the Anne Frank Travelling Exhibition which is touring New Zealand. Mr Klap has previously received the insignia of Companion of the Queen’s Service Order.
